CLIO ZHENG - MANAGING DIRECTOR
Clio Zheng is an education entrepreneur who has more than ten years of experience in tertiary education and policy advocacy. As Managing Director of Focus Language School, Clio oversees the daily operations and the strategic directions of the school.
Before taking over the management of Focus in 2020, Clio worked as an Education Consultant for international students seeking to commence their studies in Australia. She has extensive knowledge of the Australian education system and has helped students from different countries and age groups identify their academic needs, design the most suitable pathways and successfully enter their desired courses.
Prior to her career in international education, Clio served as the Executive Officer to the Founding CEO at Asialink, the University of Melbourne. During her time at Asialink, Clio’s work focused mainly on international and domestic policy advocacy in areas including education, business, diplomacy, arts and health. She was also responsible for curating and delivering various projects and programs including diplomatic conferences, business events, cultural exchanges, fund-raising campaigns, research projects, and training and thought leadership programs.
Clio had published various articles about multiculturalism in mainstream media in both Australia and China. She was a delegate representing Australia at the 30th Asia Pacific Roundtable, one of the top 30 think tank conferences globally. She has a Master of International Relations and a Bachelor of Arts (Media and Communications) from the University of Melbourne.
AILEEN ZHU - BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
With her Bachelor of Business degree, Aileen has worked in the education and migration industry for many years and has obtained vast experience working with both international students and their families. In her fifteen years studying, living, and working in Australia, she has also built a wide network of professionals within various industries related to her field. Her professionalism with network expansion and business resource integration is foundational for the crucial and far-reaching partnerships Focus has built with many others within the industry, allowing Focus to provide the best possible service to its clients.
ESIN CAGLAR - STUDENT SERVICES MANAGER
Esin has worked with international students since she obtained her Master’s degree from Monash University in 2017. She has helped many international and domestic students with their learning journey in various educational institutions, from middle school to graduate school. Her passion for providing students with the best experience possible stems from having been an international student herself in many countries, including Japan, Germany, USA, and here in Australia. As such, she has a profound understanding of what it is like to arrive in a new country, trying to learn a new language. She also recognizes just how valuable and life-changing a good study experience can be, and she now endeavours to make that happen for every student she works with.
CRAIG SHAYER - ACADEMIC CONSULTANT
Craig has worked around the world in international education since 1994, and is still learning wonderful things about the lives and cultures of his students. Since his early beginnings in English language education, he has seen how much benefit the learning has brought to thousands of his students both as a teacher and manager, and he wants all the new students arriving and learning at Focus Language School to be experiencing the best and most memorable educational and emotional journey that can be offered.
Craig is well-known in the industry, is an Endorsed Professional and is also a Master Practitioner certified by the Australian English Language Quality Assurer, NEAS. He has personally directed international English programs, both onshore and offshore, for a major Victorian TAFE, and has directed both an IELTS and Pearson (PTE) testing centre. He is an active member of the Board of Governors for Hampton and Highett Community Centres in the area he lives, and loves helping his local community.
